Primorsko is located in southeastern Bulgaria at a distance of 50 km from Burgas, 165 km from Varna, 300 km from Plovdiv and 435 km from Sofia.Primorsko is located on cape of Kyupria, jutting into the sea between Stomoplo Bay and Devil's Bay.
There was once a fortress and a settlement on the cape itself.The current resort town arose late, only after the Liberation, at the end of the 19th century. Before that, there was a Circassian village of Chenger on the slopes of Chengerbair.After the Liberation War, the Circassians fled to Turkey.Bulgarian refugees came in their place.They settled near the bridge over the Devil's River and named their new village after the bridge - Kyupria.Much later, the settlement grew on the peninsula and was renamed with its current name - Primorsko.
In the past, the extensive oak forests in the vicinity determined the occupations of its inhabitants - carpentry and coal mining.Large quantities of charcoal were exported from here to Constantinople.
Today, Primorsko has turned from a coal mining village into a beautiful seaside resort.There is a harbor with a lighthouse.Many holiday homes and hotels have been built in its vicinity.
