The previous name of Nessebar is of the ancient Thracian city Mesembria, which means city /bria/ of Melsa. From 510 BC it became a Greek city-colony under the same name. Among the new buildings are the rest stations of various departments, the "Mesembria" hotel, the "Black Sea" restaurant, the shopping center, the "Mladost" residential complex, etc. The famous Sunny Beach resort, which is 25 km away, has a casino, a summer theater, many hotels, restaurants, campsites and shops.
