Lucky occupies an important place among the new cities of the Rhodope group due to its prospective development. Until 25-30 years ago, the site of the city was almost a bare meadow. They extend along the big bow at the confluence of the Djurkovska River into the Manastirska River.Lucky is located 50 km north of Smolyan and 54 km south of Plovdiv. It is located at 1000 m above sea level. As early as 1952, rich deposits of lead-zinc ores were discovered. Part of the firstGeological surveyors and cartographers, as well as the miners who followed them, became settlers in the new workers' settlement. Since 1960, it has been recognized as a village, and in 1969 - as a city. It grew with the opening of the Lakavitsa, Jurkovo, Govedarski and Kenan Dere mines. A flotation factory was built for initial processing of the ore in 1960-1962. While in 1967 Lucky had 3,268 inhabitants, in 1985 they were 3,950, and in 1992 -
3462 people. Lucky at the headquarters of the Fifth Mining Administration. It is the most promising region and city in the Rhodope mining basin in terms of the wealth of the deposits. A repair and mechanical workshop was opened for the maintenance of the mining facilities, as well as for the machines of the flotation factory. Lki in the middle of logging from the three state forestry farms, Lki, Manastir and Kormisos. This rapid economic rise, through the flotation factory and the convenient roads, brought not only the settlements along the Yugoslavska River, but also part of the river system of the Arda River (the settlements from the former municipalities of Zagrazhden and Davidkovo) to the Lakin mining basin. Laki's connections with the village of Pavelsko are expanding, which, together with the "Pashaliitsa" locality, is becoming a recreation village for miners from the Lucky basin.
The city is landscaped with spacious apartment blocks, asphalted roads and a number of establishments for household and communal services. There is a factory for knitwear /wool/, some of the workers are from the village of Manastir.
