The capital of Romania- Bucharest is the center of the district of Muntenia - an independent administrative unit of the county, together with the county of Ilfov. It says that he built a fortified camp on the banks of the Dambovitsa river with the name Bucharest Fortress. In 1464 during the reign of Radu cel Frumos (Radu the Handsome), Bucharest became a capital city together with the then capital of Wallachia - Targovishte. It was only in 1659 that Bucharest was declared the only capital.
