How to get from Sofia to Belgrade
If you want to see one of the largest Eastern Orthodox churches in the world, you should visit Belgrade. The capital of Serbia will surprise you with many more different sights and is also located not far from Sofia. The White City is quite ancient and is an interesting destination for tourists in both summer and winter.
Belgrade is located relatively low above sea level - approximately 117 meters. This capital has many beauties - Skadarlija district, which will seriously impress you with its artistry and bohemian spirit, the Kalemegdan fortress, the National Library of Serbia, the Nikola Tesla Museum and many other memorable and distinctive sites.
What are the travel options from Sofia to Belgrade?
The distance from Sofia to Belgrade is about 390 km. Usually one travels from our capital to the Kalotina border crossing. After crossing the border, you come to the Serbian Checkpoint, which is called "Gardina".
Shared ride
This type of transportation is attractive to people who are looking for a relatively inexpensive travel option. There are mobile apps, web pages and Facebook groups that give you great chances to visit your desired destination.
By bus
Buses travel daily from our capital to that of Serbia. It is most convenient to catch one of them at Serdika International Bus Station (tel. for information: 02 981 2979). Another option to get from Sofia to Belgrade is to leave from Central Bus Station. The journey takes about 5 hours, and bus ticket prices start at BGN 72.
By car
Traveling with your private car from Sofia to a place of your choice is a classic way to relax. After crossing the border, you can only drive to Belgrade by highway. The toll fee is 1350 dinars or 11 euros. If you are in a hurry, you will probably reach the Serbian capital in 4.5 hours. And if you want to take breaks, sightsee or try the local cuisine, the more interesting stops are Pirot, Niš and Kragujevac.
By plane (Fastest option)
There are direct flights from Sofia to Belgrade almost every day of the week. Prices for a one-way ticket start from 109 euros. The journey takes only about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Nikola Tesla Belgrade Airport is international and the largest in Serbia.
By taxi
People who prefer to ride them and have more financial means will probably prefer to hire a taxi. With this type of travel, you can enjoy your carefree. A private transfer ensures you have an experienced driver at your disposal. There is no need to look for taxis and you will save a lot of time and nerves. During the entire trip, you will not be overly excited, except perhaps for the wonderful views you admire. You will not need to constantly consult the GPS navigation, or feel threatened by the busy traffic in Belgrade.
